When designing or decorating a house/apartment some people usually refer to Feng Shui. Then, is there are relation between paint colors and Feng Shui? What color should I choose to decorate my bedroom, dining room, living room, and workroom?
Feng Shui uses the principles of Eastern/Chinese philosophy which searches for a balance of energy flow in a house. It is aimed at balancing Yin and Yang and Chi ideology. Feng Shui is based on the balance of earth’s five elements; wood, metal, fire, water, and earth. Those five elements should be in a balance. Colors become an important aspect in our environment. Colors create a vibration and strengthen energy. Use colors as needed to create a beautiful and peaceful decoration.
When choosing paint colors for your home, you should consider the outdoor environment too. Outdoor lighting effects how the paint color will look and also reflect the atmosphere inside the house. In the area with abundant sunshine, brown and orange colors are quite popular. Bright yellow, blue, or red also looks fascinating in the bright sunshine just like the Mediterranean style. Intense colors will look gorgeous for any color with a lot of sunshine. Yet, it will be weird when the sunshine is not intense such as in the area with a cold climate. Walls and floors with dark color pigments can absorb or soak up the rays. In contrast, the bright colors can reflect the lights and create a brighter effect as well.
